"See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands..." Isaiah 49:16.
I am engraved on my Father's hands. He can never forget me. I am engraved on his hands!
I have been erased. My marriage, the person I was as a wife, all my experiences for the past 12.5 years. He's erased me. He lives his life as though these 12.5 years didn't happen. I am nothing. The person who vowed to cherish me his whole life now pretends I don't exist. I guess it's easier to justify himself that way. But it still hurts. It hurts to be erased.
"See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands..."
My Abba "sang" this verse to me again and again the other night. I am his joy. He delights in me. He will never erase me. I am safe in his hands. I am safe with him.
I thought my heart was safe with my husband. On August 14, 1999, I put my heart in his hands for my entire life, trusting he would always keep it safe. Maybe I'm naive, but I never dreamed he would take that heart and kill it. I was not safe. I am not safe.
"See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands..."
I am safe with my Saviour. I am safe with Him. My heart is safe. My pain is safe. My anger is safe. I. Am. Safe.
But, Jesus, it still hurts...
"See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands..."
A song my Abba also gave me this week.
