I guess this IS only our second Christmas in New Zealand. I shouldn't be "used" to anything yet. But it struck me the other night while I was watching TV. An ad came on, for some department store and it showed happy families giving and receiving Christmas gifts. It looked like any Christmas ad. Except for the atmosphere. The rooms were all bright and sunny, the people wearing short sleeves and sundresses. It's just so different from the dim, candlelit, warm-cozy-sweater atmosphere in northern hemisphere Christmas ads.
Such a little thing, but it really made an impression on me. Oh, and I actually had to see the ad a couple times to figure out what it was that was niggling in my head about why it looked SO different. Haha!!
