Yesterday, Ethan and I were sitting on the couch and we were talking about the baby coming. He knows the baby is coming right around his birthday and he asked if the baby would share his birthday cake. I told him he could have his own cake, if he wants, and we can make the baby its own cake. Then he got a very sad look on his face and said, "Then the baby will die".
Oh my gosh, my heart just broke into little pieces. He just thinks all our babies eventually die. :( I told him this baby was not going to die. This baby was going to live with us. (Oh God, please let this baby live!). He seemed fine after that.
But it's really so much for a little 3 year old mind to take in. He's so excited when we talk about the baby, but I guess, deep down, he has his own doubts, just like I do. It's hard to know that my baby is grieving, in his own little way.
