My weird, funny, weird, weird boy

I think Ethan is quite likely the weirdest, most funny kid I've ever met.

(Background) He has "skin issues". No, nothing medical, but for a couple years now, he picks at his skin. His lips, and the skin around his lips, are chapped 70% of the time because he literally rubs them raw. I put stuff on them at night, they heal, and then a couple weeks later, same deal.

In the past several months, he's started picking at his feet. They peel in summer and he can.not.resist picking the loose skin. When he gets flaps of skin, I sometimes will nip them off with a nail clipper, which actually relieves him quite a lot, because then he has nothing to pick. He's constantly asking me to "please cut this flap of skin off". So, I do.

That's the background. Tonight, he comes out of his room and says he has something to tell me that I'll really like. This is what he says: "If I ever see someone with a flap of skin, I decide that I'm not going to pick it."

Me: "You're not going to pick other people's flaps of skin?"

E: "Yes."

I admit, I burst out laughing. I told him I was very glad he's not going to pick at other people's skin and that usually people don't pick other people's skin.

Man, funniest darn thing I've heard all day! Where does he come up with this??!
