Decisions, Decisions...

Well, because you all know how much Colin and I LOVE to move, (note the dripping sarcasm in those words), we are considering another move! Okay, not intercontinental this time, just across town. *sigh* My head is reeling with all the possibilities and pros and cons. Ugh, I hate it. I can't make a decision.

Do we choose a warm house over a cold one? Do we choose a plain, ordinary house over a gorgeous one with character? Do we choose a gorgeous garden over one ridden with weeds and "unhappy" grass? Do we choose a remote location over one that is close to work/town/everything? What to do??!!

Nope. Not going to come to a conclusion tonight. Why do there have to be so many pros and cons? We looked at an amazing place last week, but the extra $300/month we would have had to pay, made the decision for us. This time? No such luck. The place we looked at today is exactly the same as our rent here.

Oh, and we've been casually looking for a different place primarily because of the damp and cold that is so very prevalent in our beautiful character home. *sigh* And our city is really lacking in decent homes in the area we want. The one we're in just fits the bill. But oh, so cold! Not easy to heat a 2500 sq ft, 100 year old villa, with 12 ft ceilings, that needs to be heated one room at a time. And those beautiful wood floors, if you'll remember the pictures I posted? ICE COLD in the morning. Pretty to look at. Miserable to walk on. Ugh.

And did I mention cold and damp homes cause New Zealand to be one of the worst places as far as respiratory illness goes? This house we looked at today is warmer AND dryer, thanks to an air filtering/dehumidifying system that they have installed. I sure would like to skip the "wheezy" feeling in my chest that I had the last time we lived in this country. :/

We need to make a decision this weekend.

You could wear sheep-skin slippers and wool sweaters to make it through the winter. What about electric blankets? Space heaters . . . Sounds like you love the place you're in and it has room for all kinds of future possibilities. And the neighbours are already good friends with Ethan. What do THEY do for the cold? Would the new place be isolated? That wouldn't be good if you're home all the time.

I'll be praying for you guys.

Is there not a way to deal with the damp/cold house to solve the problem? I guess it is a cost issue.
