A little homesick

This is the first time in 2.5 months that I have been homesick, actually. I think it's because it's a holiday. It's Easter. But for us, it just feels like a regular weekend with Colin having a few extra days off. Which is lovely, really, but I want to go home and have a big ham dinner, or roast, or whatever, and my mom's paska. She tried to impart a recipe for it over the phone today, but her recipe ended up confusing both of us and we gave up. I may try the one I just linked (or get Colin to, as making bread intimidates the heck out of me).

But I digress. Holidays make me miss home and family more than any other time. I guess that's pretty logical. Even living in Victoria, we saw family mainly on holidays. And sometimes not even then, but still. We were a lot closer to the POSSIBILITY of seeing family on holidays when we lived in BC. Here, not so much. And I love it here, I really do. But today I'm homesick. And I'm going to wallow in that for a bit, just because I can.

And for my family and Colin's who read this blog, I miss you!! Today, I wish I were home. You know, if I hopped on a plane tonight, I could get home tonight still. Think about that one for a bit. Heh. :)

I'm sorry you are homesick. I can't imagine being that far from family. I do have my mom very close (25 minutes) but that's really it, and we aren't doing anything for Easter (except I think we're finally going to take Asher to see snow)....

Anyway....just wanted to say HI and hope your weekend is a good one.
