Our very own car! It feels so good. The school has very generously loaned us a van for the past three weeks, but they were starting to get antsy as they needed it. This week, we got the money together and we are now the proud owners of a "new-to-us" Honda Odyssey. Yes, we're truly a mini-van family, something I vowed I'd never be. And yet am so thrilled! I've wanted a van since Ethan was born. It's different than the North American Odyssey, being smaller, but it's still a 7-seater and I'm loving all the space.
As with everything else here that has so easily fallen into place, I feel this van has, too. The day we arrived, we were telling our friend who picked us up about the kind of vehicle we were looking for, specifically an Odyssey. And he said a couple who lives just down the street from them, and who we knew from church 2.5 years ago, were thinking of selling their Odyssey. So, in our jet-lagged state of mind, we went and looked at it. I was completely incapable of thinking rationally at that moment, so we just left it, and proceeded to look for vehicles here in Wanganui. And just kept running across vehicles that were what we wanted and were just too pricey. And our minds kept creeping back to that van in Levin. Last Saturday, we asked them if we could come by and look again, and drive it. And as soon as I saw it, and drove it, with a clear, non-jet-lagged head, I knew it was right for us. With the money we got for our car in Canada, once it was wired over and exchanged to New Zealand dollars, we managed to pay for the van AND a year's worth of insurance. How perfect is that? God-driven? I think so.
