Where did he go?

My happy, good-natured, easy-going baby, that is. My goodness. In the past few weeks, I've been seeing things in Silas that I didn't know existed. We've always said Ethan had a determined spirit about him, but I'm thinking his brother might take the cake. Ethan was at least 18 months before I noticed temper issues. Silas, at not quite 9 months, has a TEMPER! He's extremely active, crawling all over the house and pulling up and standing on tiptoes to reach things. He is into *everything*. Baby-proofing has taken on a whole new meaning. And it's that much harder living in someone else's house. If you take him away from something (phone, cords, cupboards), or take something away from HIM, oh, how that child can scream and the back arches and he flips right out. It astounds me. Ethan is forever taking things from Silas, and Silas gets so irate. One day, Ethan was using a bucket and lid as a drum and Silas wanted to get in on it, and Ethan wasn't letting him. Next thing I knew, Silas had pushed Ethan's arm away so he could bang on the drum. Looks like he won't be needing anyone to stand up for him. He can certainly hold his own against his big brother. :D

Two busy boys, both so spirited. I had secretly hoped I'd have a bit more of a mellow one the second time round. I think it went the opposite, and I have one who is more spirited than Ethan. I actually didn't think that was possible. On the one hand, it's exhausting, both physically and mentally, to deal with the constant busy-ness all day. On the other hand, I love the "spirit". I love that life with my boys is NEVER boring. I love how they both embrace life and run with it. When they get mad, they get REALLY mad, and when they're happy, they are positively exuberant. It's good to feel deeply. It's good to live fully. My boys are certainly doing both.

I can't help but giggle reading this because Silas sounds soooo... much like Elizabeth! I am curious if Ethan tries to correct Silas as Carter does Elizabeth too. The joy of having two :)

I can totally relate ... Sierra likes to snuggle, do crafts, read books, play with dolls etc(although she is getting a sassy side that I am less than impressed with!!). Ashlyn also has a real temper (although it is starting to lessen now that she can get us to understand her in other ways). She is strong-willed, climbs on everything (the dayhome provider calls her a little "goat"), and also has a tendency to show her older sister who the new kid in town is!!!! The difference in personalities is amazing, but watching them interact and give hugs and "I love you's" before bed melts my heart as well. I guess we'll just enjoy every minute.
