Courage

I'm struck today by the courageous people I am blessed to know. I don't even know how to word this post, but I know I have to write. My dear friend, Alexis, lost her dear baby girl this morning. I only know Alexis online. But I consider her as close a friend as I do many of my "real life" friends. She, and some other online friends who I'm close to, sent me a most beautiful bracelet after Silas was born, with beads they each picked out to symbolize something special they see in me or wished for me and my baby. Alexis arranged that and put together the bracelet, adding some extra beads that symbolized our little family of 4 AND the two babies we lost. She has an amazing heart, and an amazing faith in God. She talked and prayed with me over all the crap we just went through in the summer, regarding Colin's job. Honestly, as Colin and I walked through that storm, I don't know what I would have done without her.

Early in Alexis' most recent pregnancy, they discovered something devasting. Their baby had anencephaly. Many mothers choose to terminate pregnancies such as this, as these babies have almost no chance of survival outside the womb. Alexis and her husband, Steven agonized over this. And they chose to carry this baby. http://threeforme.blogspot.com/ You can read more about their journey in Alexis' blog.

On Saturday afternoon, Eden Rebekah was born. She lived 36 hours and passed away this morning. This is Steven's blog, which updates the past few days. http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.ListAll&friendID=21046415

I cannot stop crying and praying for my friends. Sweet baby Eden is in her Heavenly Father's arms. I pray for continual comfort and peace for Alexis and Steven. I pray they will continue to know peace that passes understanding. Dear Jesus, hold my friends in your arms.

If you ever get a chance to read books, the new book by Karen Kingsbury called Summer deals with a family whose child has anencephaly. I had never heard about it before but now just after reading it I read your blog about a friend whose baby died from this. I cried all throught that book. I will say a prayer for this family.
