My budding musician played that guitar (technically a ukelele) all day today. All.Day.
Silas, my sweet, funny, independent, feisty little boy, you are 3. You made my love as a mother double. You, who came so fast and furious into our lives 3 years ago, and haven't slowed down since. You are fiercely your own person. With an older and younger sibling, you will NOT conform to the "middle child" stereotype. You will stand out, you will shine, you will never be the quiet guy on the sidelines. Your independence thrills and maddens me both at the same time. I cannot do anything FOR you. You must do it all yourself. You make me pull my hair out one minute, and melt my heart with your snuggles and kisses and "I love you's" the next. You LOVE to cuddle. You love physical contact and seek it out. You live life to the fullest, every waking moment. Your temper matches your hair (fiery!), and your affection for those closest to you (Mummy, Daddy, Ethan, Rory) is evident to everyone who knows you.
How did I get so lucky as to be your mama? I pray every day for you. I pray I will learn the patience God so clearly wants me to learn as your mother. I pray protection around your sensitive heart, your heart that already reaches out to God in your short prayers and your many songs you love to sing. Your favourite songs are "Awesome God", "Away in a Manger", "Jesus Loves Me" and "You Are My Sunshine". Keep growing, my boy. Keep growing in your body and in your spirit, as you learn about life and love, and of God. Most importantly, of God.
A friend of mine looked up your name in a baby book she has that gave Bible verses for each name. This was yours:
Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe. Proverbs 29:25
Trust in the Lord, Silas. With all your heart.
Mama loves you, BooBoo. More than you will ever know or imagine.
Happy Birthday!
