Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve, before church.

We are feeling the excitement of Christmas in our house. I really think this is the first year I have sensed so much of it from Ethan. He was SO excited to follow the advent calendar through these past 24 days. He's just exuding joy these days. It's fun. And Silas, as always, follows Ethan's lead, so it's very contagious.

Tonight, we headed to church for our carol service. Our church doesn't get very "Christmas-y", except for Christmas Eve, so it was nice. Then, we came home, and the boys opened their one Christmas Eve present (which is always pajamas, but don't tell them that. I don't think they've figured it out yet.), and then we went to look at Christmas lights, which, in New Zealand, is only effective after about 9:30pm.

The weekly newspaper published a list of homes that were nicely lit, and a map of where they were and off we went. Well, I've decided that looking at Christmas lights in New Zealand is a little bit like those old youth group scavenger hunts we used to go on, driving all around the city, searching for clues. We saw about 8 homes, all very, very nice. Some had a whole area you could walk in and explore, but with 3 kids in carseats, one a sleeping baby, I opted not to get out of the car. And we weren't even halfway down the list of homes and both boys were whining to go home to bed. Ha! Imagine that. So we did. And probably better that way anyway.

So, I'm off to play "Santa" and get myself off to bed. Tomorrow will be a long and wonderful day and I plan on enjoying every minute of it. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
