Yoga Baby

I go to yoga Wednesday nights. It's a post-natal class, so it's full of moms of babies. The first couple classes, I took Silas and discovered that most, or all, the moms left their babies at home. So, for a couple weeks, I tried. Obviously, it was fine for me, and okay for Colin, but really not okay for Silas. Poor guy screamed every week for at least half the time I was gone (2 hours) and that's just not cool with me. So, I started taking him again. And got very little yoga done.

Then I got smart. I started taking our Miracle Blanket. Once we got there, I'd get him all ready for bed (since yoga is at his bedtime), wrap him up, nurse him, and normally he'd fall asleep and lay there on the floor next to me while I participated in the class. It was perfect.

The past couple weeks, he doesn't always go to sleep, but lays there, all snugly wrapped, and looks around, smiles and talks, and generally acts cute. As I do the poses beside him, he watches me, and watches my arms as they stretch above him and is captivated by the whole thing. And usually drops off to sleep eventually, often when we're relaxing at the end, with soft music playing. He just LOVES yoga class. It's probably the most calm he is all week. Maybe it's because I went when I was pregnant with him. Maybe it's because I used my yoga "toning" (vocal stuff) during labour. Or maybe he just senses how relaxed I am while doing it. Whatever it is, he has become my little "yoga baby". ;)

Aww...that is so sweet! You should take your camera and have another mom take a picture of you two together.
