The lesson? Never give your keys to a 13-month-old.
Yesterday, we came home and Silas was anxious to get my keys out of my hands. So I gave them to him. And then I got busy doing other things. I forgot he had my keys. Until I went to lock up last night. We have a lock that requires the key on both sides. And the keys were gone. Nowhere to be found. I had no idea where Silas had been when he had them. Colin and I started searching. And searching. And searching. We got out the flashlight and went outside and combed the entire perimeter of our house, around and under the deck, and checked everywhere two or three times. No keys. And you can't exactly wake up your 13-month-old and ask him what he did with your keys. I got the idea to wake up Ethan and ask him because chances are, Ethan *saw* Silas with the keys and being the "law enforcer" that he is with his brother, he would have probably taken them and put them somewhere "safe". Ahh, but where is somewhere "safe" to a 5 year old?
I chose not to wake him, and went back into the kids' playroom and looked again. With the flashlight, as we don't actually have a working lightbulb in there. And I found them. On the "contraband" shelf. That would be the shelf where Ethan puts *everything* he doesn't want Silas touching. Ah, just a bit of "fun" on a Sunday night. :)
