Today I went grocery shopping with both boys. This has only happened about 3 or 4 times since Silas was born. Colin has been doing the majority of the shopping, and occasionally takes Ethan with him.
So, we're in the produce section, and I realize how long it's been since I've taken Ethan, since, in the past, I tell him what all the fruits and veggies are. But he's forgotten a lot. Today he thought avocados were potatoes, and lemons were watermelons. So, I point out the watermelons and he asks if we can go take a closer look. Hee. And even when we were right by them, he's still pointing at the grapefruit next to them, saying, "Those?" No, Ethan, the BIG green things! Then, I started pushing the cart over to the other side of the produce section and said I was looking for cilantro. And he points right to it! "There it is!" He says. So, my child can't tell you what a watermelon is, but he can pick out cilantro. Colin is so proud. He cooks with fresh herbs as often as possible, and apparently is passing on his herbal knowledge to his son in the grocery store. Oy. I just had to laugh.
